Cisco-Mtuity Smart Cities Hackathon - an initiative by T-Hub, Cisco, and Paradigm Mtuity - to cater solutions to the problem statements pertaining to smart cities domain and to foster open innovation by providing data, domain expertise, urban problems/challenges, training sessions to create awareness of platforms including City Digital Platform (CDP) and Atlantis analytical tool, hardware (sensors), equipments, and Unified Computing Servers (UCS) offered by Cisco and Paradigm Mtuity.

Modeling air pollutant concentration at the side of road given traffic congestion

OVERVIEW

In an urban setting typically people like to walk on the road. We would like to create a predictive application to provide guideline which road and area to pick for walk given traffic congestion on the road at various time of the day, weather condition etc.

GOALS
  • Create a model which estimates the pollutant concentration at the road side at various time of the day.
  • Tie together weather condition, wind direction etc in the model.
  • Expectation is they provide a relative concentration not an absolute concentration number.
Suggested Approach

Utilize Gaussian and Dense Gas Statistical Models for Pm10, PM 2.5 the small pollutant

Provided Data Set

We will provide 3 weeks of traffic data of few busy roads of Bangalore and Hyderabad. We can also provide weather data for that time period of those cities.

Can we develop a model to forecast weather for future dates based on historical data patterns? Any additional data can be applied as appropriate.

Goals
  • Develop predictive / forecasting model for weather hourly data.
  • Preferred technology stack MLib or H2O
  • Accepted prediction/forecasting accuracy 90%

Sample Data: Melbourne weather data from 2006 to 2017

Note:
  • There are missing values which can be ignored.
  • In priority we require forecast for Temperature, Rain and Humidity
